Leadership Academy

To inspire and equip emerging leaders through experiential learning rooted in history, service, and personal development — building leaders who build leaders.

The Leadership Academy offers structured, interactive programs for students, educators, and professionals. Each track integrates museum exhibits, leadership principles, and service-based projects.

• Leadership Through History   Students explore historical leaders, military service stories, and civic contributions featured in the museum’s exhibits.
• Service in Action   Every participant completes a service‑based project that impacts their school or community.
• Character & Personal Development   Workshops focus on communication, discipline, resilience, teamwork, and ethical decision‑making.
• Legacy Building   Students learn how leadership creates long‑term impact and how their actions contribute to a greater purpose.

 1. Junior Leaders (Middle & High School Students) 

 Focus Areas:

• Respect, responsibility, teamwork
• Conflict resolution and communication
• Community service project
• Leadership scenarios and role‑play Duration: 6–8 weeks

 2. Emerging Leaders (College Students & Young Adults)  

  Focus Areas:

• Leadership ethics and decision‑making
• Public speaking and presentation skills
• Service learning and civic engagement
• Professional development Duration: 8–10 weeks

 3. Community Leadership Fellows (Educators, Veterans, Professionals)   

 Focus Areas:

• Strategic leadership
• Mentorship and coaching
• Organizational impact
• Community‑based leadership initiatives Duration: 10–12 weeks

Interactive sessions led by museum educators, veterans, and community leaders.

Participants engage with museum exhibits, artifacts, and leadership stories to connect historical lessons to modern leadership challenges.

Each participant or group designs and completes a service project that benefits their school, neighborhood, or organization.

Students receive guidance from trained mentors who help them set goals, reflect on progress, and build leadership habits.

Participants create a personal leadership portfolio documenting:

• Goals
• Service project
• Leadership reflections
• Skills gained
• Certificates and achievements

Participants will:

• Strengthen leadership confidence and communication
• Learn how to lead teams and collaborate effectively
• Understand the connection between service and leadership
• Build a personal leadership identity
• Gain recognition on the Leadership Wall of Honor inside the museum
• Earn a Certificate of Completion from the Keith Coleman Museum Leadership Academy

• Offered twice per year: January and July
• Open to schools, youth organizations, colleges, and community groups
• No cost for middle and high school student groups
• Virtual and in‑person options available
• Group bookings available for classes of 10 or more students
